Kick Off Party

Acclaimed South Boston Artist John Provenzano Provides Platform for Emerging Artists at First Street Collaborative Kick-Off Party

Boston’s own John Provenzano (www.johnprovenzano.com). Provenzano’s abstract art integrates a mix of images, symbols, patterns and text into highly energetic and powerful paintings. Provenzano paints richly colored canvases and large-scale murals, and finds inspiration in jazz music. His paintings are in numerous collections and can be seen in galleries along the East Coast. Provenzano’s work has appeared on Channel 7 and Fox 25 News when Manny Ramirez of the Boston Red Sox was featured. Interior designers, including noted designer, Dennis Duffy, have either used Provenzano’s paintings or commissioned work for their clients. In 2005, he was included in the “Director’s Pick” exhibition at the Judi Rotenberg Gallery in Boston. Most recently, he exhibited at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York, and at Fenway Park. Provenzano’s work can also be seen in the movie Mermaids.

The First Street Collaborative announces its Kick-off Party.  Founded by Provenzano, the Collaborative aims to provide a platform for the City’s most talented emerging artists, musicians and writers to display their work. The kick-off event will feature art from Provenzano’s current collection, featuring a series of abstract paintings layered with images from the war in Iraq and the text and symbols of daily life, such as Twitter and Facebook messages, caution tape, bar codes and even song lyrics. Music by Josh McGuire & Treebeats; Video by Devs; Curated by Lilly OFlaherty; and hear what people are Tweeting about the event via live Twitter projection.
